Imagine This…
Your elementary Sunday School class pays attention during the entire lesson.
And then, your class REMEMBERS what they learned the following week!
How great would it feel to be confident that the truth of God’s Word was reaching their little hearts?
How much would parents WANT to bring their kids to church simply so they could go to Sunday School?
Well all of this doesn’t just have to be in your imagination. This can be a reality for you.
I’ve been teaching elementary age Sunday School for close to 15 years…
I’m Nathan Johnson (and that’s my son Nolan) and I’ve been teaching Sunday School for more than a decade. I am closer to 15 years teaching now, so…suffice it to say…I’ve been doing this a while.
Not only that, but I have lots of experience leading a small group of 1st grade boys. And if you know anything about that age group you know that it can be….a challenge (to put it mildly).
So when I create elementary age Sunday School Curriculum, I create lessons and activities so 1st grade boys will pay attention, and 5th grade boys won’t be bored out of their minds.
“You are brilliant – seriously. The lessons are so awesome!”
– Rebekah
In fact, I’m a lot like you.
My goal in teaching Sunday School is simple. I want kids to learn and love God’s Word. I want the truth of God’s Word to be driven deep into their hearts and minds so it is an ANCHOR to them for the rest of their lives.
All Elementary Curriculum is based on the Inerrant Word of God
The most important part of any curriculum decision is deciding whether or not you can trust the stuff. You have to be confident that the curriculum is built on a firm Biblical foundation.
All of the curriculum available here is written from a Baptist / Protestant perspective.
Statement of Faith
The authority of Scripture is the foundation of the curriculum. I believe the 66 books of the Old and New Testament are the inspired, authoritative, and complete revelation of God.
I believe that there is only one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the promised Messiah, conceived in the flesh by the Holy Spirt, born of a virgin, sinless in His life, and faithful through His death, burial, and bodily resurrection.
I believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, is the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. I believe God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection as sufficient payment for their sin.
Designed for a Fun-day School Class
Elementary kids learn through fun.
I don’t care if they are 1st graders or 5th graders…fun is a recipe for learning success.
This is why every curriculum is WAY more than just ‘serious’ stuff. Of course, we take the Bible to be deadly serious (as covered above) but when it comes to applying it to our lives, we like to use a variety of methods…some fun, and some serious.
Not only that, but every lesson has games and activities, and oftentimes hilarious skits to get the kids attention so the truth of God’s Word can be driven deep into their hearts.
Inside Every Curriculum Series (of which there are currently 80-weeks worth)
Every curriculum series is loaded with serious teaching and super fun learning.
Just wanted you to know that the kids at our church LOVED the
lessons! We used them on Sunday night. I had 3 kids last week…
I promoted the lesson in the morning service and last night I had 13!
– Julie
Inside the curriculum, you’ll find things like:
- Worship Songs WITH Motions and Lyrics.
- Opening Activities to get the kids moving and thinking about the point of the lesson.
- Kid-Friendly Skits that will have the kids laughing and participating in a fun dramatic presentation. (that doesn’t require a lot of setup)
- Lesson Scripts you can repeat word-for-word, or better yet, use as the launching point for your own storytelling!
- Memory Verse – each curriculum series has 1 memory verse. Over the course of a series, the kids will have a chance to review it multiple times…which will keep it lodged in their brains for a long time!
- Group Games are included because kids need to move. I don’t care how great of a teacher you are, kids aren’t going to sit still for an hour straight.
- Small Group Questions are provided for the times you want to break the room into age groups and talk to the kids in a more individual setting.
- Small Group Activities keep the small group times from getting bogged down and boring. Again…too much talking and not enough moving means rowdy kids who don’t pay attention.
- Parent Summary Sheet provides a nice wrap-up of what the kids learned that day.
All of this material is included to make YOU SUCCESSFUL. You should run out of time before you EVER run out of ideas. You should leave class every week feeling like a successful teacher. You should leave KNOWING all the time and effort you’ve put into teaching WAS WORTH IT.
You deserve to feel like a successful teacher, no matter your teaching style. You should be able to grab kids attention every week regardless of your personality.
